Six new medical and pharmaceutical commentators have been named as opinion leaders to spearhead healthy development in the medical and pharmaceutical sectors.
Our company (Bosa Daily & Medical News) held the "48th Medical and Pharmaceutical Commentator Badge Ceremony" at the Press Club on the 20th floor of the Korea Press Center on the 17th, where this year's six commentators were recognized.
Medical and pharmaceutical commentators are opinion leaders in the medical and pharmaceutical fields who possess high-level expertise, balanced judgment, and exceptional communication skills. Since 1976, our company has been recommending commentators to encourage medical professionals with the qualities of an opinion leader to actively engage in critical activities such as contributing articles and making policy suggestions. The program is sponsored by JW Pharmaceutical.
At this year's ceremony, four individuals were selected as medical commentators: Professor Goo Sung-wook of Yonsei University's Neurosurgery Department, Director Ahn Gun-young of Cheongdam Gowoon Sesang Dermatology Clinic, Medical Director Yoo In-sang of Inbong Medical Foundation's Yeongdeungpo Hospital and New Korea Hospital, and Director Choi Ju-hyun of Nune Miso Eye Clinic. Two individuals were selected as pharmaceutical commentators: Professor Lee Sang-guk of Seoul National University College of Pharmacy and Professor Han Kyun-hee of Yonsei University College of Pharmacy. All six received certificates and commendation plaques.
On this day, our company presented the new commentators with their certificates and plaques, urging them to elevate their role as opinion leaders in the medical and pharmaceutical fields. Additionally, the new commentators were presented with commemorative medals from the sponsor, JW Pharmaceutical.

In his opening speech, Chairman Park Yeon-jun of our company stated, "Medical News created the 'Medical and Pharmaceutical Commentator' recommendation system to discover leaders who can spearhead the public opinion necessary for the genuine advancement of the medical and pharmaceutical fields." He emphasized the significance and value of the program, adding, "The commentators recommended throughout the years have earned public trust and respect by expanding beyond their academic boundaries to disseminate correct knowledge and information vital for the progress of the medical and pharmaceutical communities, and by actively communicating with society to broaden the horizons of these professional fields."
Chairman Park Yeon-jun then congratulated the newly selected commentators, saying, "I extend my congratulations to all six of you. I urge you all to make even greater contributions, not only within your professional domains but also on a societal level, to ensure the continued healthy growth of the medical and pharmaceutical sectors."
The badge ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Lee Seong-gyu, President of the Korean Hospital Association; Hong Soon-won, President of the Korean Medical Women's Association; and Hwang Gyu-seok, President of the Seoul Medical Association. They all delivered congratulatory remarks to the six new medical and pharmaceutical commentators.

Lee Seong-gyu, President of the Korean Hospital Association, commented, "The Medical and Pharmaceutical Commentator system has now upheld a 48-year tradition, producing over 250 experts. These individuals have not only demonstrated outstanding capabilities in their respective fields but have also shaped the intellectual foundation and public opinion to help the medical and pharmaceutical communities communicate effectively with society and respond proactively to change."
President Lee continued, "I believe the commentators recommended today will serve as guides for the medical and pharmaceutical fields, leveraging the trust and insight they have built over many years as clinicians, researchers, managers, and communicators. The Korean Hospital Association pledges to work closely with all of you to ensure that the voices of the clinical frontlines and experts are reflected in policy and institutional reforms."
Hong Soon-won, President of the Korean Medical Women's Association, offered her congratulations, stating, "Among those selected today, I have had personal interactions with Director Koo Sung-wook, Medical Director Yoo In-sang, and Director Choi Ju-hyun. I have already been deeply impressed by their writing skills and insightful analysis. When you can personally feel the competence of these individuals, you can only imagine the capabilities of all the other newly recommended members."
She added, "This signifies that each of them possesses a deep understanding of the key issues in the medical and pharmaceutical sectors and a sincere desire to communicate these issues to society. I hope you will continue to use your honest and high-standard expertise to powerfully advocate for our medical community and the health of the public."

Hwang Gyu-seok, President of the Seoul Medical Association, extended his deep gratitude, stating, "I would like to express my sincere appreciation to those who have consistently upheld the valuable tradition of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Commentator recommendation program for many years, creating a space for healthy discourse and public debate." He added, "The 48th Medical and Pharmaceutical Commentator recommendation is not merely an award; it is a significant occasion that highlights individuals who are committed to contemplating and practicing the path of intellect and communication that our medical and pharmaceutical fields should follow."
He emphasized, "The title of 'Medical and Pharmaceutical Commentator' is a weighty name given to opinion leaders in the medical community who possess expertise and strong communication skills—it's more than just a label of innovation. The awardees' path and role will be to bridge the gap between policy, medical science, and society, bringing the language of medicine into the public sphere."
To date, the company has recommended 253 medical and pharmaceutical commentators (182 medical commentators and 71 pharmaceutical commentators) as of last year. Past recipients have formed the Korean Medical and Pharmaceutical Commentators' Association, fostering camaraderie and demonstrating their influence as opinion leaders in the medical and pharmaceutical fields.
