Yonsei University's K-NIBRT held the 'AI-Driven Biomanufacturing Innovation' seminar at COEX in Seoul on April 28.
On April 28, K-NIBRT at Yonsei University (headed by Jae-hoon Shin) hosted an open session at the COEX Conference Center in Seoul, under the theme 'AI-Driven Biomanufacturing Innovation: Digital Transformation and the Reshaping of the Biopharma Ecosystem.'
Co-hosted by Yonsei K-NIBRT and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI), the event was designed to thoroughly discuss the impact of artificial intelligence and digital transformation on the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, as well as future strategies.
Jae-Hun Shin,Director of External Affairs at Yonsei K-NIBRT, chaired the open session, which officially commenced with opening remarks from Young-hoon Jung, Planning Director of KHIDI. Experts from academia and the industry shared a wide range of latest technology trends and practical application cases in the field through keynote presentations.
The main presentations focused on the following topics:
▲Global AI Policies, Regulations, and Industry Adoption Status (Jung-min Choi, Director at the Korea Biomedicine Industry Association)
▲Digital Twin in Biomanufacturing: From Design to Real-Time Execution (Yeon-wook Jung, Director at Thermo Fisher Scientific)
▲Introduction to Quantum Computing and its Potential Applications in the Biotech Field (Professor Kyung-hyun Baek, Yonsei Institute of Convergence Science & Technology)
▲Competency-Based Education in the Fast-Changing Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Industry (John Milne, Training Director at NIBRT)
Based on the digital innovation strategies derived from this seminar, Yonsei K-NIBRT plans to play a leading role in building a next-generation, AI- and data-driven bioprocess ecosystem. Furthermore, it pledged to make key contributions to helping South Korea leap forward as a global powerhouse in biomanufacturing by further strengthening internationalized practical education and industry-academia cooperation networks.
Meanwhile, K-NIBRT will operate a promotional booth inside the COEX exhibition hall for three days from April 28 to 30 during the 'BIO KOREA 2026' event. The booth will provide information and consultations on its major educational programs, while continuing to discuss future-oriented cooperation plans with domestic and international biotech industry stakeholders.
